Unemployment in Greece is out of control as it breaks one record after the other. According to Greek Statistics Authority, unemployment reached 21% in December 2011 with the number of jobless Greeks exceeding one million people. In comparison, unemployment was 14.8% in December 2010 and 20.9% in November 2011. The total number of jobless Greeks is 1,033,507.
In the age group 15-24, unemployment is at 51.1%, meaning that one out of two young workers is without a job. In the age group 25-34 unemployment is at 21%.
Women is the second vulnerable group, with unemployment reaching 25.3%
Happy Greek Women Day!
PS As the ELSTAT finally recorded the unemployment in each separate month of 2011, we hope to have soon the average percentage for the whole of the year. Does it matter? We’d just love these statistics so that we can write a complaint letter to the Troika and its ‘successful’ Memorandums of Understanding.
maybe negative statistcs come out slowly in order not to create panic.lol But I think, everywhere it is like that.
