Muslims in Athens will meet today Sunday to protest the film “The Innocence of the Muslims” that sparked violent reactions across the world. The protesters will meet at 3 pm in Omonia Square in downtown Athens and will march to the US embassy, some four kilometers away.
I have no problem with peaceful protests, but if it turn violent then maybe this would be a good chance for the Police to separate the illegal aliens invaders and deport them. It really does not take much to set them off and even a rejection of their Prophet can set them off. I wonder how many churches they have burned down for the slightest provocation over the centuries. How many Coptic Christian churches in Egypt have been destroyed. Dr. Bill Warner is a good source about political Islam.
on the other hand one should not forget the crimes committed by the crusaders in the name of Christiny. but that was before the Enlightement. Years ago, there were voices in the Arabic world (late 1980′ & early/middle 1990’s) about the need of Enlightment. I guess these voices have been silenced?
No, they haven’t. Like everywhere else, there are indeed extremist idiots who will grasp at any occasion to cause havoc. Religion is a very powerful weapon, and when used by the wrong people, can lead to some pretty un-religious behaviour. Not just by Muslims, as you rightly point out. There are far too many would-be power hungry maniacs who are only too willing to abuse religion, patriotism, uncertainty and fear, for their own purposes, which in all cases is designed to serve the power hunger of the individual, not the needs of the people s/he manipulates.
When a mob of brainless Muslims is whipped into a frenzy by one of their manipulators and set upon an embassy, it is classed as riots and unacceptable.
When a mob of unthinking Greeks is whipped into a frenzy by their Fuhrer and set upon some defenseless, legal, street traders, it is classed as “patriotism” and respect is not just expected but demanded by the same people who (rightfully!)condemn the Muslims…
