Patras: tenants burn home and cupboard doors for heating

Poverty has no borders and scruple. A home owner in Patras, western Greece, was complete astonished to find out, his former tenants had used some of the doors of the house but also the doors of kitchen cupboards to feed their stove. Apparently because the tenants family had no money to buy firewood. It is not clear whether the landlord would sue his former tenants who have confessed the wrongdoing, according to local news portal dete.gr.

PS now we have found who is responsible for the firewood smog. HA!

  1. The New York Times also ran a lengthy story today about this issue that may be of interest to readers, although it’s nothing really new.

we were the first to report about this issue in English and thus on Jan 4.

  3. Yes, I know! That’s why I love your site. It’s more informative and more timely with real news than canned stories in the famous New York Times. I wish more Americans knew about KTG.

thanks @Jodi, but you cannnot expect international media to be able to immediately report on a national/local issue.
