He must have known how things work. After all, he had served the country and the citizens as Transportation Minister. Michalis Liapis was arrested on Tuesday for driving a car without insurance, no driving license and with counterfeit license plates. Furthermore, he had violated a Stop sign.
Michalis Liapis was driving a luxury jeep Volkswagen Touareg.
Policemen stopped him in Loutsa area in eastern Attica, when he violated a stop sign. During the police control it turned out that Liapis did not had his driving license with him,, the car had no insurance and the license plates were fake even though they had the original number.
“I had submitted the license plates and made improvised ones so I can drive around,” Liapis reportedly told the stunned policemen.
With traffic fees, car insurance and taxes for luxury cars being extremely high, the former transportation minister apparently had chosen to cheat the state, he had once taken the oath to serve.
