A helicopter of the Turkish Coastguard not only violated the Greek airspace, it also toured over the island of Kos in the Eastern Aegean Sea and flew as low as 400-500ft.
According to Greek Defense Ministry, the helicopter entered the Greek FIR without permission at 7:10 am on Thursday. At 7:12 am it flew at 400ft (133meters) over the north-east of Kos. Four minutes later, it repeated the low flight over the same north-east area of the island, this time at 500ft.
It exited the Athens FIR after 17 whole minutes, at 7:27 am
Greek speak of a “provocation” on the Turkish side. Apparently, it is the first violation of the Greek airspace by Turkish planes after the coup attempt on July 15th.
PS maybe helicopter was carrying Gulenists who were trying to flee to Greece – OK, don’t shout. It’s just an idea…
