More than 5,000 paper lanterns filled the night sky over the city of Volos, central Greece, on second Christmas Day taking way more than 5,000 Wishes.
It was an initiative of the Volos Municipality in order to raise funds for the poor and needy members of the local society.

Everyone wishing to sent a Christmas Wish up in the sky could make a donation, no matter how big or small, in several boxes collecting money.

Young and old, thousands of residents of the city and the surrounding areas flocked to Volos seashore and jointed the good cause.
According to first estimations, this year participation was almost double than the one in the previous year, where the initiative was held for the first time.
The donations are to be distributed among the five charity foundations located in the area. the beneficiaries are children and vulnerable groups as well as economically weak members of the society who are unable to meet their daily obligations.
Well done, Volos!
