Turkish F-16 and CN-235 violate Greece’s FIR 33 times in a single day

Turkish fighter jets and aircraft conducted massive violations of the Greek FIR on Tuesday. Two pairs of F-16 and two CASA CN-235 aircraft conducted a total of 33 Greek airspace violations in the northeastern, central ans southeastern Aegean Sea in a single day.

The Turkish F-16s were armed and violated the FIR Athens four times.

Two Greek F-16 took off from the island of Lemnos and intercepted the first pair of Turkish fighters. The same Greek F-16s intercepted and the second pair of Turkish fighters.

One Lock On occurred.

Most of violations conducted by the two CN-235 aircraft occurred over the air space between the islands of Rhodes and Lemnos. One CN-235 conducted 16 violations, the other 15.

One CN-235 was intercepted by a Greek F-16 from Larissa Squad, the second from an F-16 from Souda.

The aircraft were intercepted and identified in accordance with international standards, as standard practice, said a statement issued by the Greek Ministry of Defense .

  1. A lock involves a lot of bleep bleep sounds.
    Looks like operation Ramstein happened after all but without NATO and without jam (strawberry, cherry, apricot, peach???). Anyway, this is quite an increase from daily intrusions.
