A British tourist was killed and another was injured in a tragic water sports accident at Makris Yalos area on the island of Kefalonia on Tuesday.

A 58-year-old British national was killed on Tuesday while doing water sports at Makris Yalos on the island of Cephalonia. According to a statement issued by the coast guard, the man and two friends were on a towable tube pulled by a speed boat when, during speedboat maneuvers, the man lost his balance and slammed onto one of his friends, losing consciousness.

An EKAV ambulance arrived at the beach and took the man to hospital. Authorities are waiting for the autopsy report that will shed light at the cause of death but initial reports say the tourist may have suffered a heart attack.

The 37-year-old speed boat captain was arrested but he may be released by the prosecutor later.
