Just hours after the massive Macedonia-protest in Thessaloniki on Sunday and Greeks prepare for another demonstration this time in Greece’s capital Athens.
However, organizers went back and forth with regards to where the protest should take place.
The original schedule foresaw Syntagma Square outside the Greek Palriament then Piraeus some eight to ten kilometers away, out of fears there would be clashes with anti-authoritarians.
Ultimately, they changed back to Syntagma, obviously thinking that anti-authoritarians could catch the urban train in Athens and be in Piraeus in just 15 minutes.
The Macedonia-protest is finally scheduled for 4. February 2018 at Syntagma Square.
Thousands of protesters gathered in downtown Thessaloniki on Sunday and joined their voices against the use of term “Macedonia” in the new name of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
Police said the number of participants at 90,000 people, organizers claimed they were more than half a million or even close to a million. The truth could be around 150,000 people.
Many protesters had traveled from other Greek regions.
