Sahara dust and extreme mist have covered the north part of the island of Crete, leading to cancellation of several flights on Saturday morning. “We have turned into London!” write local media stressing the rare weather phenomenon affects the northern parts of the island.

All airports have been facing problems with the exception of the airport of Kasteli by Heraklio as it is located on higher altitude, local cretapost notes.

The extreme fog comes to cover large parts of Crete a month after the island turned surreal for several days due to billions of Sahara dust particles moving over Crete.
