Greece’ National Meteorological Service EMY has issued a weather warning with strong rainfalls, thunderstorms, possible hail-falls and powerful winds. The warning is valid for Thursday and Friday, May 10 and 11, 2018.

Central Macedonia, Thessaly, Sporades islands and possibly Evia.
The islands of North and Eastern Aegean Sea in the afternoon.
By evening also the rest of the mainland.
A thunderstorm is expected also in the broader Attica region on Thursday evening .
Almost gusty winds 6-7 Beaufort in the South-West Aegean Sea.
Friday, May 11


Central Macedonia, Thessaly, Sporades, Evia, the islands of the North and East Aegean Sea.
Noon and afternoon also the rest of the mainland.
Attica and Thessaloniki prefectures will be affected by the bad weather on both days.


Saturday, May 12, looks a bit better although still rainfalls in West and East mainland.

A powerful rainstorm hit Thessaloniki in Northern Greece earlier on Thursday, bringing the city center under water, sweeping away pedestrians and vehicles, flooding also several public buildings.
The town of Serres, in East Macedonia, was also hit by a strong rainfall, the fire service received 46 calls to pump water form homes and business places.


A storm stroke also Xanthi in Thrace and had streets and national roads turn into rivers.
