Police arrests 59 foreigners trying to leave Greece on forged documents from 13 European countries

Greek police has arrested a total of 59 people who tried to leave Greek airports with fake documents. The arrests were made between 9-15 July at the airports of Herakleio and Sitia on the island of Crete. The 59 people, 39 men and 18 women were trying to reach several European countries: France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland and Spain.

The arrested foreigners are aged 18-51 and two minors. Their nationalities have not been revealed.

51 of them were arrested at Herakleio airport and 8 at the airport of Sitia.

They were holding fake documents allegedly issued by authorities in France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Slovenia, Poland, Bulgaria, Albania, Syria, Erithrea and Pakistan.

The forged documents were confiscated,  authorities filed case files against each one of them. They were taken to prosecutors in Heraklio and Sitia.
