Incredible but true. A priest in a village near Patras in Western Greece refused to give the Holy Communication to seniors with dentures. During the celebration of Virgin Mary, worshipers waiting to receive the Communion, could not believe their ears when the priest grabbed the microphone and announced: Seniors wearing dentures should take them out before proceed to Communion.
The stunned believers started to raise their voice and and complained about the priest’s “offensive and insulting behaviour”. Some even approached the priest and threatened to file a complaint at the local Metropolis.
This action was apparently enough to persudae the prist take back his decision and every believer was able to receive the Holy Communion with real or false teeth.
The priest’s motive has not been disclosed but maybe he hwas afraid the dentures of hungry low pensioners would get out of control and start nibbling on the communion spoon…
In another weird incident, in a nearby village, another priest had the men receive the communion first and then the women. The priest asked the men to apploud the woman (give-me-an-A! YEAH!) for their patience.
