My day starts with a small bowl of mixed cereals and seeds, milk, a bit of cocoa powder and extra sugar. Two cups of coffee. I sit on the terrace enjoying the breathtaking view over the blue bay on the west of Kos. I watch the Hobby-Cat sailors training as I smoke my first cigarette of the day.
Enjoy the view during breakfast
My breakfast ends with a small … surprise! I need a glass of water. Huh? I never drink water in the morning when I’m home. But here the conditions are different. The sun is brighter, the air is cleaner. I enjoy the beginning of the day outdoors and no in front of my pc as I do back home. so conditions are per definition different. And so are the needs of the body. Apparently.
After breakfast is finished, I walk a bit around, through the garden, enjoy the view for one more time, chat with the personnel.
Exactly at 11.25 a.m. I do something I would never do at home. I jump in the swimming pool. The water is cool. A bit much too cool for my taste. In fact, the water is cold! Exactly at 11.30 the AquaFit class starts. the AquaFit is “Aqua Aerobic” for 30 minutes. Every morning. My body does the work, my mind wonders around. when the class is over, I’m really refreshed and more than satisfied with myself for having bet that little old lazy devil inside me.

Another glass of water and -surprise! – no cigarette!
At around 1 p.m. I move with a book to the swimming pool. The 25-meter-long pool is a barometer for my fitness check. Managing 6 rounds right on the first day is certainly a good sign. There have been times in the past, I could hardly manage two!
An hour later, a quick walk to lunch restaurant. No matter what lays on the huge buffets, I always end up with a plate full of salad, a piece of protein, a pumkin seeds bun and a scoop of chocolate ice cream. After a coffee and two cigarettes i walk back to the pool. Swimming, reading and relax. I’m on summer vacation, after all.
Later afternoon and it’s time for a new outdoors fitness challenge: Pilates or Stretch & Relax or a combination of Pilates, Yoga & Stretching. 60 minutes. Depending on the instructor, Pilates can be easy or ouch-so-difficult. I mostly enjoy the deep breathing part -Iiiinhale, Eeeexhale! Iiiinhale, Eeeeexhale! – in an environment with no visible air pollution.
Curious where I had this wonderful time? If you’re planning to travel to Greece sometime soon, why don’t you try Expedias Hotels for good deals?
Something wrong with Pilates instructions…
Much to my frustration this time I wasn’t able to do some Hobby Cat sailing due to the strong winds. Too strong for my amateur skills…
Stretching as much as one can
Stretched and refreshed, I go to my room and make my preparations for dinner. Dinner is THE challenge with me having difficulties to apply any forms of discipline.
Recently, I think I broke all my records and thus on the the night they had the Italian Night Theme. I had to drink two Grappas and two Espresso afterwards to recover. I promised myself not to do it again…. I do love Italian cuisine, what can I do?
In-between I may have a facial treatment or a massage (this time a half-God had me count my spinal bones each one at least three times).
The days go by and I feel fitter with each passing day. My lungs are full with fresh air as all the sports activities take place outdoors. I can even take under control my smoking habits. I believe, my decreased lust for nicotine has to much to do with the increased intake of fresh air, my very active metabolism and my permanent coming and going – I don’t smoke when walking lol
I go to bed early and deep for almost ten hours.
Some sports-freaks may laugh at my performances but for somebody who hasn’t done any serious activity in the last two years due to an injury, I can’t complain.
an contrary to the majority of the guest, I lose weight instead of gaining.
It’s a matter of setting priorities (fitness) and keeping some discipline with meals, even during vacations. Unless there is an Italian Night 🙂
Back in Athens, the heavy air pollution had me coughing again.

Jesss I got really tired with the heavy fitness programm, relax is the purpose my dear relax and nothing more !!!!!!!!!!! Like a duck in the swimming pool. Still I envied you,
and? did it bring any results, Ersi? well, there is different, I guess due to the fresh air. Thinking, Im’m fresh-air-addicted lol
