Theodoros Pangalos, former PASOK minister and deputy PM in Papandreou government published in article in To Vima newspaper where he compares left-wing SYRIZA and extreme-right Chrysi Avgi (Golden Dawn) with the troops of SS and SA during the Weimar Republic.
“If Michaloliakos and his black-dressed [men] are the SS, then Tsipras and his dapple horde is the SA in terms of the Weimar”
In his article “A modern movement of bully provocateurs” Panaglos primerily complain that he had been target of SYRIZA supporters in the past. Full article here.
Nikos Michaloliakos is the leader of GD, Alexis Tsipras the leader of SYRIZA, the main opposition party in Greek parliament.
“Τραμπούκος” actually mean bully provocateurs acting for political purposes.
It is completely ridiculous and a serious sign of panic within the “major”parties when heavy hitters like Theodoros Pangalos have to come out with crap like this to try and stem the very deserved losses their own party is suffering.
Unless the other parties in Greece start unifying and doing something about GD, they could become a bigger problem than they already are. Remember Belgium? They went for 541 because nobody broke the agreement not to form a government with Vlaams Belang, the Flemish version of GD. Finally a government was formed, and meanwhile Vlaams Belang has lost more than 65% of its vote.
SYRIZA is a totally different animal. Not only a party on the rise, but the ONLY party in Greece which actually offers a possible way out of the mess the country is in. Whether it will work or not is outside the scope of this argument. Reality is that rather than constantly trying to pander to the dictat from the EU, SYRIZA are indeed the only party who stand up for Greece and its people with a strong, detailed plan for a future.
The only thing GD offers is chaos, isolation and the ultimate death of a great country and culture.
Mr Pangalos and his friends would be well advised to realize that reality instead of wasting their time spouting bullshit.
My question would be, is GD the “problem” or is GD just a symptom of the “problem”?
GD is both. At this stage, it is not enough to remove the problem. The cancer was allowed to spread and has taken on a life of it’s own. And like a cancer, the cause must but removed by political and economic reforms, while the cancerous growth must be cut out, or it will keep festering away until it eventually kills its host, in this case Greece.
