Athens: People Get Food from Garbage Bins…

 There has been a lot of talk about people digging deep inside garbage bins to find food, mainly low-pensioners -in Greece of 2012, in Greece of European Union and the Euro zone. I personally have wondered several times, why people hang plastic bags with old bread on one of the garbage bins in my neighborhood. Yes, I was wondering, whether there were indeed people in our middle class area, who would take the old bread home.

And here came a picture to answer my question:

“Please: hang food and bread outside the garbage bin” This dramatic appeal was found on a garbage bin in equally middle-class Kallithea, a suburb in south Athens.
