Alex strikes back! Are Greeks really … lazy? Animated video to crush negative stereotypes

The Omikron Project strikes back! With a new animation video about the “lazy” Greek, Alex. In an effort to bring down stereotypes and statistics confusion, Alex is compared with the rest of Europe. Why does Europe manage everything in time, while Alex gets stuck although he works longer than the average European?

The world says Alex is lazy… but is he really?

The Omikron Project is “a group of girls and guys trying to show the world the untold side of Greece’s current crisis, and crush the negative stereotypes of our country.” Last November the Omikron Project introduced animated Greek Alex in an effort to crush negative stereotypes against Greeks.

Nevertheless, I cannot but answer the Omikron Project question at the end of the video.  I could list just a few of  all time classic Greek pathogenic: the huge bureaucracy, the partial implementation of the laws, the lack of ergonomics culture and know-how, the absence of proper consultation and … the unexplained difficulties to carry out tasks and projects to the end.

If I have to wait 5 hours to get a stamp to renew my social insurance book, then Yes! I return to work exhausted from doing nothing than standing queue…

  1. Well I’ve just opened my TEBE bill 1.250 euro …. It has taken me 2 months to get my online shop up and running, Even though I had a license for a brick and mortar shop (apparently that’s not good enough) It cost me 2500 euro to do all my papers again. Then I waited and waited while DOY/TEBE sorted themselves out. So I have been working probably a few months and everyone knows how difficult it is to get going online. TEBE doesn’t care as they still want the same money not matter that all I’ve earned (total) is 150 euro since being open! I finally had a substantial order from Kozani – sent it on 2/5/2013 with a courier only to receive an upset call from the customer who has not received their order (8th) – checked and found the couriers did not work at all from Friday lunch to Weds morning (item left our town this morning!) There goes that customer! You can’t do anything in this country without stress/upset and finally heartache. Good luck to Alex – he’s going to need it!

    • I mean, everyone should know that nobody works over the holidays (Easter/Christmas etc). Also in other countries there would be no courier during these days.
