A man is being found unconscious in front of the closed doors of health centre in the remote island of Symi, near the borders with Turkey. The man, a shop-owner, had reportedly underwent a control by the financial crimes units (SDOE). After the control. he fell uneasy and went to the health centre. The health centre is closed because the director had submitted her resignation and the two available doctors can only share two shifts.
It was only a coincident that the director was passing by the centre. She helped the man and diagnosed that he had suffered a heart attack. He had to be transferred to the nearby island of Rhodes.
The director called a medical rescue helicopter that arrived two hours later.
The mayor of Symi complained to Radio Rhodes that ‘while the residents of Symi fulfill the obligations towards the state, the state doesnot fulfill its obligations towards the citizens.”
Residents and city council are reportedly in outrage about the downgrading of health care system.
That’s not new. the Greek state has unfortunately mutated into a greed pit that swallows taxes just to pay back lenders.
PS and I was always thinking that taxes are reciprocating… No in Greece, not now. Not that the situation in Symi or other remote islands was better before the crisis. It’s just worse now in the salvation year 2013.
