“Electricity for All”: Attica Prefecture will pay cost for electricity reconnection & bills

A good news for a change, a wonderful Christmas present for citizens and families without electricity! Attica Prefect Rena Dourou will come up for the cost and reconnect economically weak households to electricity network. The program “Electricity for all” will help households that had their electricity supply been cut by Publi Power Company (DEH) due to outstanding debts and they can not afford to pay electricity bills and power reconnection. For this purpose the Attica Prefecture will allocate 2.5 million euro.

“No citizen shall be deprived of basic social good such as electricity, especially today, in times of humanitarian crisis in our country” Dourou said in a statement officially announcing the program “Electricity for all” adding that “due to upcoming Christmas holidays, the program will go into effect within the next days.”

The program will apply to all households currently without electricity. They will have to make a payment settlement with DEH and then submit the bills to Attica Prefecture that will cover the cost for the reconnection and pay the first installment of the settlement.

Attica Prefecture will cover up to 360 euro per electricity connection and this amount will be paid by the Prefecture from the start of the program until December 31st 2016. One important condition is that DEH has issued an official order for the power cut.

For more details on the documents needed in order to apply for the program, check with Attica Prefecture website here (in Greek).

ops! Rena Dourou is a member of left-wing SYRIZA!

Monday night, during a television program, Nea Dimokratia Ιnterior Minister Argyris Dinopoulos was attacking Dourou screaming again and again “What? She pays just one euro per day for these people?” (LOL)

  1. How can they not have electricity if “One important condition is that DEH has issued an official order for the power cut.” Obviously one would think that there would be an official order to cut the electricity. What other kind is there ? An unoffical one ?

    • no idea. there is also the option that people may have applied to have electricity cut. just a guess.
