Balme game in Migration crisis? Greece strikes back. The office of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras named four East European countries and accused them of “xenophobic and far-right rhetoric.”
Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic are the countries that trying to develop a different EU policy and and put pressure on the EU to close its borders to Greece thus isolating it.
As noted in a non-paper, these four countries
-try to close the borders between EU countries for the refugees in violation of humanitarian and solidarity principles charta they have signed in the framework of their EU accession.
– exert intolerable pressure on Greece to abandon the rules of international Law and stop refugees rescues in the sea.
–put pressure on the European Union to close the borders to Greece (Schengen expulsion).
“These proposals also integrate unacceptable extreme-right and xenophobic rhetoric aimed to crate a certain climate for internal political consumption.”
The PM’s office also indirectly criticizes the rest of EU countries noting that “their reaction to such political behavior is not the expected one.”
Greece’s point of view is that “refugees flows cannot be stopped, neither can the Refugees Crisis be dealt with fences, closed borders and camps” and that “the determined implementation of the European decisions and the agreement with Turkey were the only way for the humane and solidarity management of the refugee crisis.”
The non-paper reminds that “despite the long economic and social crisis, Greece implements its commitments,” but this also requires corresponding implementation of these commitments also by the remaining EU countries.”
It stresses that the relocation program of the refugees have been implemented at 0.17% by the other EU member countries and that the EU-Turkey agreement has not started yet.” (source)
PS much to my knowledge these four countries are Germany’s satellites, no? Ff borders will be closed, Greeks will miss Polish mushrooms on supermarket shelves. I have no idea what Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic export to Greece.
Unless COSCO is not bribing them they all will have their long distance imports and exports go via Slovenia instead of Piraeus
