Turkish merchants, businessmen, civil servants and ordinary citizens are allegedly fleeing Erdogan’s purge mania and seek asylum in neighboring Greece.
In an exclusive story, Greek private Mega TV reported Friday noon that “at least fifteen Turkish nationals entered Greece in recent days via the Kipoi crossing on Evros river at the borders to Turkey.
all of them were members of th eGulen movement or Kemalists and they were arrested and remain in custody at the police station of Alexandroupolis,” some 50 km away.
According to Mega TV, “they told police, they feared to be the next victims of thousands of prosecutions conducted by the Erdogan government, after the failed coup.”
This morning police deported back to Turkey two of those arrested who intend to apply for political asylum in Greece.
The story doesn’t make much sense, unless the Turkish nationals illegally entered Greece with a boat crossing the Evros river. Otherwise, if they had legal documents with or without visa (Green passports for civil servants) Greek police would have no reason to arrest them and they would be allowed to stay up to 3 months in the country.
According to a press release issued by the Greek police on 12. August 2016, “two illegal migrants Turkish nationals (male) were deported to Turkey” a day earlier. In the same press release, Greek police reveals that a total of 45 Turkish nationals have been deported to Turkey since the beginning of 2016.
Nevertheless, Turkey’s purge of thousands of civil servants, teachers, justice personnel, apparent supporters of US-based preacher Fetullah Gulen continues without a break. the government went even so far to issue an arrest warrant against ex football star Hakan Sukur. The 44-year-old former Galatasaray and Inter Milan striker has been accused of “being a member of an armed terror group” that was behind the coup, which attempted to unseat president Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the middle of July.
In a latest development, a Turkish court has ruled for the seizure of property and possessions owned by Sukur and his father worth 200 million Turkish Liras “after identifying the two as providing financial support to the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), as part of a probe on August 12th.”
The anti-coup mania had Istanbul Municipality cancelled four concerts of famous Turkish pop star Sila Gençoğlu as a punishment for failing to attend the “Democracy Rally” in Istanbul on August 7th and for describing it as a “show”.
Sıla had previously said she did not want to attend the rally, calling it a “show.” “I am absolutely against the coup but I do not prefer to be inside such a show,” Sıla said, while stressing that she stood by her words.
Meanwhile, more and more high ranking Turkish diplomats and members of the Armed Forces on foreign missions refuse to follow Ankara’s orders and return to the country.
Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that 32 diplomatic personnel failed to follow return calls.
“We had called back a total of 208 diplomatic personnel to assign them to the [Foreign] Ministry. The number of personnel who did not come back unexcused and without leave is 32,” Çavuşoğlu said on Friday.
The minister also added that two of the personnel who had been working in Bangladesh fled to the U.S.A.
Other Turkish diplomats said that five employees of Turkey’s embassy in the Netherlands were recalled on suspicion of involvement with the Gülen movement.
Also high ranking members of the Turkish Armed Forces are on the run and refuse to return to Turkey.
A military attache based in Kuwait had tried to escape through Saudi Arabia, but had been sent back.
Two generals based in Afghanistan who had been caught in Dubai by United Arab Emirates authorities and returned to Turkey.
The Turkish military attache in the Jordanian capital of Amman had fled.
Fugitive are also the Land forces and the Navy attaches on a mission at the Turkish embassy in Athens.
PS Allegedly under pressure from Ankara is also a high-ranking diplomat assigned to the Turkish Consulate in Komotini, northern Greece.
If the Greek police deport Turks asking for asylum without going through due legal process, this is a VERY SERIOUS breach of Greek, EU and international law. The Greek authorities can be sued, and potentially dragged into the European courts for their failure to observe basic human rights.
I’m not sure about this story. they could be simply economic migrants
Economic migrants apply for asylum in order not to be deported. The Greek police have a record of illegal returns from Greece, with many cases in the European courts in the recent past and the Greek state being condemned for its illegal actions. Now, of course, the European Commission wants Greece to commit only illegal actions and pretend that they are legal — which the courts will not permit, but these cases cannot get to the European courts, and the Greek asylum tribunals have now been rigged by Tsipras to make sure that they do what the EU tells them to do…

This is really the beginning of the end of European democracy and the rule of law. And the principal actors here are two criminals — literally — called Juncker and Avromopoulos. Between them, and in parallel with the wheelchair mafioso, they have fucked Europe beyond hope.
Erdolf Atatuerk will ask too for Asylum as he never apologized for given a woman his hand, live on TV to Mr. Merkel, he’ll come in hell now.
If he comes the government must explain him that in Greece since 4000 years women AND men have to hide their heads if they meet or try to meet any gods.
