It is a tradition that Greeks decorate their houses, balconies and yards with the Greek Flag on national days. And some use the Independence Day on 25th March to make a point. Giannis Athanasopoulos used 140 square meters of cloth in the colors of the Greek flag and wrapped his two-storey house in Nea Kios, Peloponnese.
Speaking to Argonafplia TV, Athanasopoulos said that the huge flag represents Greeks’ power. But also a protest for the two Greek soldiers in the “prison dungeons of crazy Erdogan,” as he characteristically said adding “we want to show that we are many and ready to jump in if the two kids need us.”
The man said added that the Flag is also a protest for the Macedonian and the Albanian issues.
The television network mentions that wrapping the flag around the house is upon an initiative of the local “Friends of the Flag” association.
It is a custom that Greeks decorate their houses, balconies and yards with the Greek flags on the national days. Some with smaller and some with really huge ones… especially when the patriotic sentiment is extremely high due to the Turkish provocations, the soldiers in custody and the Macedonia name dispute.
