Greece’s National Drug Organisation (NDO) has urgently ordered another 50,000 anti-flu vaccines to meet the population’s needs after a sharp increase of flu cases has been recorded in the last few weeks. 18 people died of complications after flu infection, 12 of them lost their lives within one week.
According to a NDO announcement, the vaccines were secured despite a current shortage in the world market.
Concerning anti-virus treatments, the NDO stressed that the required medication is in sufficient supply.
Before the flu season 2018-2019 was set in, Greece had imported a total of 2,100,000 vaccines. The vaccines have been used as a big number of citizens decided to to immunize themselves against the flu this winter.
Experts repeatedly call on Greeks to get a vaccine, stressing that the flu season reaches its peak in February and March.
