NATO Allies to sign FYROM accession protocol on Feb 6

The Accession Protocol between the NATO and FYROM or North Macedonia will be signed on February, the General Secretary of the North Atlanic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg announced on Saturday.

“On 6 February we will write history: NATO Allies will sign the accession protocol with the future Republic of North Macedonia together with FM Nikola Dimitrov,” Stoltenberg tweeted.

Of course, before this happens, the Greek Parliament will have to vote and approve the Protocol. According to Parliament Speaker, the vote would be held Friday, February 8, the latest. – or at least two-three days earlier, according to determined Stoltenberg.

the Greek government managed to secure 153 votes for the Prespes Agreement, although SYRIZA has just 145 seats in the Parliament. Seeking one by one the additional votes in a Parliament of 300, the ruling party has asked an ANEL MP to postpone his planned resignation for a couple of days until the protocol is approved.

As the ‘mediator’ was via Parliament Speaker Nikos Voutsis, opposition parties now sharply criticize him for behavior not conformed with his duties.
