PM Tsipras praised victory of Pedro Sanched and progressive forces in Spain

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras commented on the result of the elections in Spain praising the victory of the socialist party and the progressive forces.

“The prevalence of progressive forces in Spain and the collapse of the right-wing People’s Party is a message of hope,” he said in a tweet. Conservative political forces should not “yet rush into bias-winding on the dominance of the Right in Europe,” he added.

Ας μη βιάζονται κάποιοι να προκαταλάβουν την επικράτηση της δεξιάς στην Ευρώπη.</p>&mdash; Alexis Tsipras (@atsipras) <a href=”https://twitter.com/atsipras/status/1122626806677372929?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>April 28, 2019</a></blockquote>

In another tweet, the Greek Prime Minister pointed out that the electoral percentages of the Socialists and the Podemos party “muddle the disturbing rise of the far-Right and pave the way for the continuation of a progressive government in Spain.” and observed that even though these two parties may not have an absolute majority, their combined parliamentary seats total “puts a barricade against the far-Right.”

On Sunday, Pedro Sánchez and his Socialist Workers’ party PSOE won the most seats -123 out of 350 in total – and is reportedly expected to enter negotiations with the leftist Podemos party – 42 seats- and other regional parties to form a left-wing coalition government. with prime minister Pedro Sanchez as leader.

PS as we are in Greece and everything ends up in the narrow space of internal politics , the Socialists’ victory in Spain triggered an argument between the government and SYRIZA- on one side with main opposition New Democracy and KINAL/PASOK on the other side.
