Unknown perpetrators set two Turkish diplomatic cars on fire

Unknown perpetrators have set on fire two cars belonging to members of the Turkish diplomatic mission in Thessaloniki, Northern Greece.

The two attacks took place in neighboring areas the early morning hours of Monday and damaged also four other vehicles parked next to the targeted ones with Turkish diplomatic plates.

The first attack took place at 4:45 am when unknown perpetrators poured flammable liquid over a diplomatic car of a Turkish lawyer parked in the yard of a multi-story residence building. The vehicle burned down, two other cars were damaged. The flames reached the first floor of the building, the residents were alerted and call the Fire Service, state ERT TV reported.

Ten minutes later, at 04:55, a Turkish diplomatic car in the municipality parking place went in flames. Again flammable liquid was used. The fire damaged two other cars parked nearby.

Fire fighters extinguished the fires.

The National Security Department investigates.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the attacks, so far.

The Greek Foreign Ministry condemned the arson attacks.
