A Cretan truck driver angry about an inspector’s control punched two tax officers and sent them with injuries to the hospital.
The driver was about to deliver goods to a canteen in Rethymnon, Crete, when the tax officers stopped him and asked him to show delivery papers and invoices.
The truck driver got reportedly angry and started to punch the 55-year-old woman inspector. He hit her 58-year-old male colleague with a stone.
He then fled the spot but abandoned the truck a couple of meters away.
Both inspectors were transferred to the hospital of Rethymnon where their injuries were treated.
A CT scan showed that the woman had suffered an ear drum rupture.
Police arriving at the spot had the truck license plated removed.
The perpetrator remained on the run still a couple of hours after the assault.
