Several regions across Greece remain in ALARM Status with regards to possibility of forest and wild fires also on Sunday, August 11, 2019, due to powerful winds, soaring temperatures and dryness. According to a warning published by the Greek Civil Protection, several regions will be on “very high risk” of fires also on Monday, August 12.
Despite the warnings, though, the Fire Service had to intervene in 58 cases of forest and wild fires across the country within 24 hours, from 7 pm on Friday until 7 pm on Saturday.

Firefighters are busy on Sunday as the wild fire on the island of Elafonisos that started on Saturday revived on Sunday morning.

The mayor of Elafonisos, Efi Roumani-Liarou told ANT1 TV Sunday noon that the fire revived and is now on two fronts.
A camping and a hotel were evacuated on Saturday, residents of Panagia village on Sunday. The mayor said that in both cases the evacuations were as precaution measures.
288 children were evacuated form the summer camp of Agio Andreas in Mrathonas, Attica, on Saturday due to a forest fires in the area.
