Deputy mayor wraps house with huge Greek flag on OXI Day occasion (video)

On the occasion of the national holiday OXI Day, the deputy mayor of Argos-Mycenae wrapped his whole house with a huge flag. The flag is 140 square meter, local media report.

The flag decorates the mayor’s house in Nea Kios, a village in the Argos-Mycanae Municipality.

It is a custom for Greeks to decorate their balconies and yards on national holidays.

On OXI Day, – No Day –  Greeks celebrate the 28. October 1940 when Prime Minister, Ioannis Metaxas, rejected the ultimatum issued by fascist Italy, an ultimatum demanding from Greece to allow the troops of the Axis to invade the country.

Deptuy Mayor, Yannis Athanasopoulos, had wrapped the huge flag also on the national Holiday, March 25, when Greeks celebrate the launch of the Greek Independence War against the Ottoman Empire in 1821.
