Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued a weather warning on Tuesday noon for November 19-21, 2019. Coming from the West, the new barometric low will bring heavy rainfalls and strong thunderstorms, the statement said. It will initially strike the Ionian Sea and western Greece and quickly move to the East and the South mainland.
Occasional thunderstorms are forecast to hit also Attica and the city of Athens.
South winds blowing with intensity up to 6-7 Beaufort.

In an updated weather warning EMY said heavy rainfalls and strong thunderstorms will affect:
East Crete and East Cyclades, islands of the eastern Aegean Sea and the Dodecanese.
Until late afternoon eastern parts of Central Macedonia (Halkidiki), East Macedonia, Threace, islands of North Aegean and possibly also the Sporades islands.

The weather will remain cloudy and rainy also over the weekend.
Despite the traditional bad weather phenomena in November, the seas are much warmer than the seasonal average.

The map above shows the sea surface temperature deviation from the seasonal normal. These days, Greek seas are up to 3 degrees Celsius warmer than in previous years.
