With harsh expressions and personal attacks against the Prime Minister, main opposition leader and former PM Alexis Tsipras started his speech in the Greek Palriament on Friday morning. In the debated on “Hour of the Prime Minister” Tsipras called Kyriakos Mitsotakis “liar” and “coward.”
“Last time we were in this hall, you stood with your arms crossed and you called me a liar. […] Eventually it turned out that the liar was not me. You know, Mr. Mitsotakis, the leader is characterized by the political courage to admit his mistakes. But you did not have the courage to apologize or, of course, dismiss your minister. Not only a liar, but also a coward at the same time,” Tsipras said.
He was referring to a previous dispute between the two about a minister’s statements. Mitsotakis had claimed the statements did not exist and accused Tsipras of being “a liar,” true, although the minister had spoken on a TV channel and the video was all over the mainstream media and the news websites.
On Friday, Tsipras’ official question to the Prime Minister was about the recent Penal Code amendments and the provisions granting protection to suspects of money laundering, the “white collar criminals,” as Tsipras described them in the Parliament on Friday.
The debate continues.
