The Federation of unions of Greek banks employees will launch a 24-hour strike across the country on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. The mobilization is the response of the Federation OTOE to the recent lay-off by the Piraeus Bank.
On the same day, OTOE will launch a protest outside the Labor Ministry on Stadiou Avenue in downtown Athens at 1 o’ clock.
Strikers call on Piraeus Bank to immediately withdraw the lay-offs and to comply with the agreement they have proposed.
Piraeus Bank blamed the staff for the layoffs, saying that they refused to move to debt collecting company Intrum Hellas. Furthermore they refused to work in local branches of the bank or participate in a program of voluntary withdrawal.
Last week, the OTOE has launched a 24-hour strike on Piraeus Bank branches only.
