Chinese man in Athens hospital quarantine over coronavirus suspicion UPD

A Chinese national is in quarantine in Attikon hospital in Athens, tested on suspicion of being infected with coronavirus. The 33-year-old man had traveled to Greece from China ten days ago.

He first went to a private hospital in South Athens, with fever and coughing. The doctors alerted the Greek health authorities.

With an ambulance, he was transferred to Attikon under full implementation of the special protection protocol.

The man had not traveled to Wuhan but to another Chinese city virus-stricken as well.

He will remain in hospital quarantine until the final results of the test are out, around Wednesday noon.

UPDATE: The test turned “negative” on coronavirus, Attikon hospital said short before Wed noon..

Meanwhile, in Kozani, West Macedonia, a Japanese national is in hospital quarantine and tested for coronavirus.He was admitted to hospital with high fever and flu symptoms.

The 19-year-old came to Greece via Singapore and Germany and came in contact with dozens of Chinese nationals, the general manager of the local hospital told media.

The tests results are expected on Thursday.

Ultimately, the young man was tested negative on coronavirus. He was infected with seasonal flu.

So far, there have been no cases of coronavirus infections in Greece. However, authorities have tested more than 100 cases on suspicion.
