Greece’s health authorities announce don Tuesday, 156 new confirmed cases of coronavirus and 5 more deaths in the last 24 hours. The total infections stand at 2,401 and the death toll has risen to 121.
Of the 156 new cases 148 are asylum-seekers in a facility in Kranidi, eastern Peloponnese.
59 patients are intubated in hospitals in Intensive Care Units. The average age of these patients is 67 years. 16 of them are women. 84.7% of ICU patients have underlying health issues or are over 70 years old.
A total of 46 people have been discharged from the ICUs.
Among the 121 dead were 32 women. Majority of the dead had underlying health issues and their average age was over 70 years old.
The latest victim is a 101-year-old woman infected with coronavirus in the nursing home last week. Another 101-year-old patient also from the nursing home is reportedly still hospitalized.
The youngest victim is a 35-year-old man who passed away also on Tuesday.
A total of 55,666 tests have been conducted since the coronavirus outbreak in Greece.
