Asylum-seekers facility in quarantine after several tested positive

Health teams of the National Health Organization (EODY) conducting COVID-19 tests in a migrants’ structure in Kranidi, West Peloponnese, have detected 3 infections among 125 samples.

The Ministries of Migration & Asylum, Civil and Health Protection are strictly restricting the movement of residents for a period of 15 days.

According to a relevant announcement of the Ministry of Migrations and Asylum, a group of EODY received a total of 125 samples from residents at the specific hotel.

The statement noted that the entry of the employees of the structure, of police and military authorities, as well as of health personnel of the health units will be exceptionally allowed.

The structure was placed in 14-day quarantine on April 21, after 148 asylum seekers were tested positive. They were infected most likely by a local cleaner.

Last week, though, an unaccompanied minor was tested positive, a fact that set health authorities on alert again.

Locals have been demanding that the migrants will be relocated, especially now that the tourist season begins.
