Coronavirus Greece: 32 new cases, among them 14 “imported”; 200 deaths

Greek health authorities announced three more deaths and 32 new confirmed coronavirus cases on Wednesday evening. Among the new cases, 14 were detected among tourists.

With 5 deaths in the last 36 hours, death toll reached the mark of 200 people since the outbreak in late February. The number of total infections stands at 4,077.

Geographical distribution July 22

The new 32 cases have been detected:

9  at the entry points in Greece.

5 more travellers voluntarily sought laboratories for Covid-19 test in the country after they developed some symptoms. They were tested positive.

The remaining new cases are:

8 in Thessaloniki and 6 in Attica

Each one (1) is in Xanthi, Heraklio (Crete), Evia and Magnisia

4 in Thessaloniki, 2 in Xanthi and 2 in Larissa.

According to the Health Ministry statement on Wednesday,  54.5% of the total of infections affect men.

Of the total coronavirus cases, 1,128 (27.7%)  are related to travel abroad, 2,066 (50.7%) are related to an already known case. The rest are not related to travel or another known case or are still under investigation.

Average age of the infected in 49 with age range between 0 and 102.

10 patients are intubated in ICUs.

The average age of the intubated patients is 58 years old, among them are 2 women. 80% of the intubated patients have underlying health issues or are over 70 years old.

124 patients have been discharged from the ICUs since the beginning of the outbreak.

Number of coronavirus-related deaths has reached 200.

Among the deceased were 65 women. The average age of the deceased was 76 with range age between 35 and 102.

96% had underlying health issues and/or were over 70 years old.

Tests

According to the Health Ministry on Wednesday, a total of 424,675 tests have been conducted since beginning of the year, 6,238 (1.5%) are positive. The data include several tests conducted on a single patient, as well.

46,893 (11.4%) tests have been conducted among flight passengers since June 12, the EODY statement said on Sunday, adding that 93 (0.2%) are positive.

This latest section of information has been removed from the daily report since Monday.

Head  of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias announced earlier on Tuesday the number of tests conducted at the Greek entry points and the number of “imported” cases for the time period July 1-19, 2020.
