207 new confirmed coronavirus cases and 5 more deaths have been recorded in Greece in the last 24 hours, health authorities announced on Tuesday evening. The total infections stand at 10,524 and the death toll at 271.
Of the new cases, 21 were detected among tourists.
Among the latest fatalities are two elderly from the nursing home in Asvestochori that counts a total of 21 dead, as Professor for Infectious Diseases Sotiris Tsiodras said during the live briefing on Tuesday.
Tsiodras noted that 27% of the confirmed cases in August were asymptomatic, while another 27% said that they had come in close contact with a Covid-19 patient.
He also noted that there were 137 infections in closed facilities.
Head of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias said during the briefing that there are currently 3,389 active cases across the country.
Of the new cases, 21 were detected among tourists.
Restrictive measures incl. mandatory use of mask in- and outdoors imposed in the Regional Unit of Heraklio on the island of Crete due to epidemiological load went in force on Tuesday morning.
The Education Ministry announced today that schools and pre-schools will open on September 14 and not September 7th as originally planned.

According to the official daily bulletin on Tuesday, 2112 (20.1%) of the total cases are related to travel abroad and 4710(44.8%) are related to already known infection case.
The number of intubated patients in ICUs increased to 38 from 36 yesterday. Their average age is 68, among them are 10 women. 94.7% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.
153 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
Four more deaths have raised death toll to 271. Of the deceased 97 were women. Their average age was 78 and 95.9% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.
Rolling weekly average cases at 221 from 226 last week.
Total tests since begin of outbreak are 966,346.
Tests in the last 24 hours: 16,979 with 1.22% of them positive.
