Daily coronavirus infections went up again, over 200, on Wednesday, after Greece recorded 248 new cases in the past 24 hours. The total infection surpassed 12,000 and reached 12,080. Three more deaths raised death toll to 293.
Short time after Health authorities released the daily bulletin, two more patients died increasing the number of deaths to 295. The latest victims is an 83-year-old woman and a 50-year-old foreign national.
During the live briefing on Tuesday, authorities said that the active cases in the country are at 3,978.
Professor for Hygiene and Epidemiology and spokesman of the Health Ministry, Gkikas Majiorkinis said on Tuesday, that there has been a smooth decrease of new infections in the last days, while intubations record a smooth increase.
Of the new cases in the last 24 hours, 23 were detected among tourists.
There have been 1,066 infections in 5 days and 10 deaths in the time Sept 4-7.

According to the official daily bulletin on Wednesday, 2297 (19%) of the total cases are related to travel abroad and 5296(43.8) are related to already known infection case.
The number of intubated patients in ICUs increased to 46 from 42 yesterday. Their average age is 68, among them are 11 women. 87% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.
167 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
Three more deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 293. Of the deceased 108 were women. The average age of the deceased was 78 and 96.2% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.
Rolling weekly average cases at 192 from 212 last week. Below 200 was also before August 15.
Total tests since begin of outbreak are 1,066,305.
Tests in the last 24 hours: 16,046 with 1.55% of them positive.

Of the 248 new coronavirus cases, 225 are domestic, of them 18 are linked to recent travel within the country and 35 to known clusters.
19 of the new cases were detected at entry points -and another 4 travelers already in the country sought laboratories after they developed symptoms.

The can factory in Giannitsa, Pella Prefecture, West Macedonia, temporarily shut down on Tuesday, after over 40 workers were tested positive. The factory reportedly has some 690 workers, many of them seasonal.
