Greece’s health authorities announced 287 new coronavirus cases and three more deaths on Friday evening. The total infections reached 12,734 and death toll 300. However, one more patient died after the new bulletin and the country counts 301 since the outbreak of the pandemic in late February.
One day after the daily coronavirus cases in Greece broke an all times record with 372 new cases -n Thursday- authorities announced that not only there are over 200 cases per day in the last 3 days, but that also the number of Covid-19 patients in intubation is increasing.
Intubations reached 52 in the last 24 hours, when they were 42 last Tuesday.
“The number of intubated patients is of concern,” Epidemiology Professor and spokesman of the HEalth Ministry Gkikas Majiorkinis said during the live briefing on Friday.
He spoke of “over-spread of the virus at local level.”

At the same briefing, head of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias announced that the islands Paros and Antiparos will exit the regime of “restrictive measures”, while restrictions in Attica and other regions will be extended and re-evaluated every 3 days.
On Thursday, the Civil Protection announced a series of restrictive measures (mini lockdown) in four Regional Units on Thursday due to increased epidemiological data.
15 of the new cases were detected among tourists.

According to the official daily bulletin on Friday, 2340 (18.4%) of the total cases are related to travel abroad and 5601(44%) are related to already known infection case.
55.4% of the infected are men.
The number of intubated patients in ICUs increased to 52 from 42 on Tuesday. Their average age is 70, among them are 11 women. 88.5% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.
169 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
Three more deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 300. Of the deceased 111 were women. The average age of the deceased was 78 and 96.3% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.
Rolling weekly average cases at 223 from 200 last week. Below 200 was also before August 15.
Total tests since begin of outbreak are 1,094,354.
Tests in the last 24 hours: 11.953 with 2.4% of them positive.

Of the 287 new coronavirus cases, 272 are domestic: of them more than half are detected in Attica. 43 of the 272 new cases are linked to known clusters (two factories, one in Pella and one in Attica).
Three regional units count more than 10 new cases each.
15 of the new cases were detected at entry points; another 0 travelers already in the country sought laboratories after they developed symptoms.

Three days before schools open on Sept 14, teachers in 3 private and 1 public school in Athens have been reportedly tested positive to Covid-19. The infected have been placed in isolation.
Two tax offices in Attica have been shut down due to infections.
One employee at Pasteur Institute has been also tested positive to coronavirus.
The Civil Protection closed the can factory in Pella for 7 days.
