Greece’ National Meteorological Service EMY issued a weather warning as a bad weather front will strike with heavy rainfalls and thunderstorms, powerful winds and possible hail. Affected are mainly areas already hit by medicane Ianos over the last weekend: the Ionian islands and Karditsa in Thessaly that remains under water.
The bad weather front will initially affect the North-West of the country, later the rest of the West, the Central and North mainland.
Rainfalls and storms already started on Wednesday morning, September 23, in the northern Ionian Sea and will continue throughout the day. The strong weather phenomena will affect as of the afternoon Epirus and will gradually expand to the southern Ionian Sea, to Western and Central Macedonia and Thessaly, .

In the night towards the early morning hours of Thursday, Sept 24, rainfalls in the Ionian will intensify with local thunderstorms. The phenomena will gradually extend to the rest of the West, in the Peloponnese and possibly in the Eastern mainland.
