A mini heat wave with temperatures up to 36-37 degrees Celsius is forecast for Greece over the weekend and the first days of next week. The extraordinary hot weather for the month of October is expected to set in on Saturday, October 3, and last until Tuesday, October 6, 2020.
According to the meteo service of the National Observatory of Athens, “temperatures in the lower atmosphere above all of Greece on Sunday and Monday will be 7-13 degrees Celsius higher than the average value in the years 1979-2010.”
However, it should be noted that temperatures will eventually be determined also by other weather factors, such as cloudiness, wind and humidity.
Indicatively, on Sunday and Monday, Oct 4-5, the maximum temperature are forecast to reach locally up to 35-36 degrees Celsius in central and southern parts of the country.
According to National Meteorological Service EMY, the hottest day of this mini heat wave will be Monday, when temperature will reach up to 37° C in Central Greece.
