Coronavirus Greece: 391 new cases, intubations hit record with 98

Greece’s health authorities announced 391 new coronavirus cases and one more death on Friday evening. The total cases have reached 21,772 and death toll increased to 431.

The number of intubated Covid-19 patients hit an all times record with 98. The previous daily record was 93 at the peak of the first wave of the pandemic in April 2020.

Again, Attica and Athens top the list with 161 new cases.

40 of the new cases on Monday were detected among tourists.

Greek authorities launched an interactive COVID-19 MAP, an online tool where citizens can check the imposed restrictions and measures as well as the risk level of each region across the country.

According to the official daily bulletin on Friday, 3213(14.8) of the total coronavirus cases are related to travel abroad and 8892(40.8%) are related to already known infection case.

55.7% of the infected are men.

The number of intubated patients in ICUs is 98 from 91 a day earlier. Their average age is 68, among them are 27 women. 90.8% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.

237 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.

One more death in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 431.  Of the deceased 161 were women. The average age of the deceased was 78 and 96.5% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.

Average rate of daily deaths per week: 5.3

Rolling weekly average cases at 347 from 340 last week.

Total tests since begin of outbreak are 1,400,857.

Tests in the last 24 hours: 10,587 with 3.69% of them positive. A good, normal number with less reason for concerns is when positive is below 2%.

Daily growth at +1.8%.

Of the 391 new coronavirus cases, 56 are related to known clusters and 36 were detected at the country’s entry points.

Majority of new cases are recorded in Attica

36 of the new cases were detected at entry points; another 4 travelers already in the country sought laboratories after they developed symptoms.

13 workers in a spices factory in south Athens have been tested positive to Covid-19. The rest of a total of 50 workers are in self-isolation.
