Coronavirus Greece: 306 new cases, 5 more deaths, 100 intubated patients

Greece’s health authorities announced on Saturday evening: 306 new coronavirus cases, 5 more Covid-19 related deaths and 100 Covid-19 patients intubated in hospitals’ Intensive Care Units.

The total cases have reached 22,078 and death toll increased to 436.

The number of intubated Covid-19 patients hit a new all times record with 100. The previous daily record was 93 at the peak of the first wave of the pandemic in April 2020.

100 Covid-19 patients intubated in ICUs is putting immense pressure in the country’s health system. Authorities had recently said that it would be critical when intubated patients are between 100 and 150.

Again, Attica and Athens top the list with 165 new cases.

32 of the new cases on Saturday were detected among tourists.

Daily average of new cases 350 (+/-10) in the time October 1-9, 2020.

According to the official daily bulletin on Friday, 3245(14.7%) of the total coronavirus cases are related to travel abroad and 9002(40.8%) are related to already known infection case.

55.7% of the infected are men.

The number of intubated patients in ICUs is 100 from 98 a day earlier. Their average age is 68, among them are 29 women. 90.0% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.

238 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.

Five more death in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 436.  Of the deceased 161 were women. The average age of the deceased was 79 and 96.6% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.

Rolling weekly average cases at 353 from 342 last week.

Total tests since begin of outbreak are 1,413,838.

Tests in the last 24 hours: 12,981 with 2.36% of them positive. A good, normal number with less reason for concerns is when positive is below 2%.

Daily growth at +1.4%.

Of the 306 new coronavirus cases, 57 are related to known clusters and 30 were detected at the country’s entry points.

Majority of new cases are recorded in Attica

30 of the new cases were detected at entry points; another 2 travelers already in the country sought laboratories after they developed symptoms.

  1. Must say, the new map is quite good! It gives you a picture of the situation on “ground level”. I just hope they can follow it through the pandemic.
