Greece’s Civil Aviation Authority has modified travel restrictions regarding the mandatory negative Covid-19 test after several flights were cancelled due to Air Traffic Controllers strike on October 18th and 19th 2020. At the same time, the CAA increased the weekly number of tourists allowed to arrive in Greece from Israel.
The maximum number airline passengers coming to Greece from Israel in a week has been increased to 10,000 from the current 5,000.
According to the air traffic notifications (notams) issued by the CAA on Monday, October 19:
– Due to the strikes of the employees of the CAA, which were scheduled for Sunday 18 and for Monday 19 October and result in cancellations and modifications of flights by the airlines, the passengers who are affected by their flight are given the opportunity to change the date and to come to Greece on Tuesday with a negative Covid-19 test, which does not exceed 96 hours from the date it was performed. This aviation directive will be valid until Tuesday, October 20, at midnight and applies only to passengers who are affected by the mobilizations.
– Regarding the aviation directive for the restrictions of flights to and from Kozani’s “Filippos” airport, valid until Thursday, October 29 at midnight, another exception is added: local training flights will be allowed.
– Finally, for the air directive (NOTAM) concerning travelers from Israel (permanent residents), which is valid until October 25 and provides that those travelling to Greece via an air connection from Israel can only enter Greece with a negative Covid-19 test, the maximum number of arrivals has been raised to 10,000 passengers per week from 5,000, with arrivals at all airports in Greece.
