Five metro station in central Athens will close as of noon on Tuesday, November 17, by order of the Greek Police (ELAS), as part of the security measures imposed on the anniversary of the 1973 Polytechnic Students Uprising and despite the ban on public gatherings due to the pandemic.
The stations that will close as of 13 o’ clock noon are: Syntagma, Panepistimio, Omonoia, Evangelismos and Megaro Moussikis.
The metro trains will pass through those stations without a stop for passengers to embark or disembark.
The metro stations will open again when police decides.
With a constitutionally disputable order, Greek Police has banned any gatherings of more than four people from November 15 until 9 pm on November 18.
Media report that some 5,000 policemen will be deployed in downtown Athens to enforce the law.
PS 5,000 policemen? That’s a superspreading event!
