Greece’s health authorities announced on Monday 2,198 new coronavirus cases and 59 Covid-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours. The number of intubations has reached 400.
Again, there were 13,000 fewer tests in the last 24 hours due to the weekend. Nevertheless, the 11,911 tests showed a record of positivity that is 18.45%.
Total cases have reached 76,403 and death toll 1,165.
Among the latest fatalities is a 48-year-old nurse in AHEPA hospital in Thessaloniki after 2-week hospitalization. Also a 42-year old doctor died in a hospital in Athens. The pulmonary diseases specialist was working as a private doctor and was infected most likely by a patient, his colleague told media. The father of 3 underage children had no underlying issue other that “a few more kilos and a mild asthma that he totally controlled,” a colleague told Star TV.
Over 1,000 frontline workers, doctors and nurses, have reportedly been infected.
One more hospital in Thessaloniki is at breaking point, and 11 clinic directors at Papanikolaou hospital sent SOS saying that all ICU 43 beds for Covid-19 patients were full.
Associate Professor of Children Epidemiology Vana Papaevangelou said during the live weekly briefing on Monday that hospital admissions are set to continue rising even as lockdown measures take effect.

Despite the increasing infections, government officials seem optimist about the course of the pandemic and the deputy development minister said on Monday, that retail stores and catering will open on December 1.

According to the official daily bulletin on Monday, 4675(6.1%) of the total coronavirus cases are related to travel abroad and 19638 (25.7%) are related to already known infection case.
53.9% of the infected are men.
The number of intubated patients in ICUs increased to 400 !!! from 392 day earlier. Their average age is 65, among them are 126 women. 79.5% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.
383 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
Fifty-nine more deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 1165. Of the deceased 473 were women. The average age of the deceased was 80 and 97.2% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.

Tests in the last 24 hours:11,911 with 18.45% of them positive. A good, normal number with less reason for concerns is when positive is below 2%.

This is really going the wrong way, not just in Greece but all over our world! I just cant understand WHY some people seem to neglect the danger? Do they really still believe that the virus is harmless or do they just dont care? Odd, to say the least……
