Courier delays give citizens the right to receive compensation, the General Secretary of the Center for Consumer Protection (KEPKA), Evangelia Kekeleki said on Wednesday. The issue arose after courier deliveries are being conducted with very long delays following the second lockdown in Greece since November 7 and the Christmas season.
Speaking to the main news bulletin of state broadcaster ERT3, Kekeleki described the delays situation as “unacceptable” and stressed that, for each day of delay in courier delivery the consumer is entitled to compensation of 6 euros.
“We at KEPKA do not justify the courier companies at all. Courier delays had occurred in the previous lockdown in March too. They had the time to fix things, to hire staff, to make their infrastructure better,” she said.
“What we are facing now in the second lockdown is unacceptable,” Kekeleki stressed.
Kekeleki noted that consumers have rights, however, the problem is how to claim them, emphasizing that both the government and the National Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT) are doing nothing to implement consumer rights in practice.
“There is an instruction to consumers from EETT which clearly states that every day of delay the consumer is entitled to six euros in compensation,” she underlined. (source: tvxs.gr)
