Greece’s Civil Aviation Authority extended quarantine for travelers from UK to 10 days over the Christmas holidays and an additional mandatory PCR test at the end of the self-isolation tine. However, in a new announcement Tuesday noon, it changed the date from which the measure will be implemented.
In the latest statement posted Tuesday noon, the CAA said that the new measure is valid from 06:00 a.m. Friday, 25 December 2020, until Thursday midnight, 7. January 2021.
The new NOTAM recalls that all passengers arriving from UK will be placed in 7-day quarantine and as of 25. December on 10-day quarantine.
The CAA directive notes that the provision of the previous NOTAM, issued on Monday night, are in force.
All passengers entering Greece with flights from the United Kingdom will be subject to a rapid test and a ten-day (10) mandatory precautionary restriction at home or at the place of temporary residence stated on the PLF form.
If they stay in Greece for a shorter period of time, the temporary restriction is valid for this period of time, ie until their departure.
In order to get out of quarantine, those arriving from the UK will have to undergo a new PCR test when the 10-day period is completed. In order to have the quarantine lifted, the PCR test has to be negative.
The obligation of all travelers from abroad, including travelers from the United Kingdom, to have a negative molecular (PCR) test of 72 hours and to fill in the PLF form in order to enter Greece continues to be valid, the statement of the Civil Aviation Authority said.
In contrast to other European countries, Greece decided to not ban flights from/to UK, as hundreds of students are waiting to visit the country over the holidays.
Greece’s first reaction to the virus mutation in UK on Sunday was to extend the quarantine to 7 days from 3 that are valid to all other travelers from abroad. However, epidemiologists suggested that the quarantine period should be prolonged to ten days. Greece issued three notams in total in the last two days.

What a big mistake to allow students, people, home for Christmas,to endanger families, especially as the UK is so entrenched in Covid at the moment with the new varient causing chasos. For a few days of hello and eating to take such a risk against all of us is madness on the part of the Greek government.
Completely second that. Those students and workers coming home for Christmas aren’t going to be isolated in a room, they’re coming to see their families and eat Christmas lunch with grandma…huge mistake from a country whose health system is near collapse.
