Lockdown in Athens & Attica: All restrictions, incl extended curfew on weekends

Head of Greece’ Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias announced the measures for the additional, hard lockdown in Athens and Attica that is imposed from 6:00 a.m. Thursday, February 11, until Sunday, February 28, 2021.

The measures include restrictions in movement with extended curfew on Saturdays and Sundays, the closure of close schools and religious services without the presence of people, retail operation only with online shopping and closure of services such as hairdressers, nails etc.

Closed are schools of all education levels as well as kindergartens and pre-school. Exception: special education schools with physical presence.

Flower-shops will be allowed to operate only on upcoming Saturday and Sunday, February 13-14, due to the Valentine’s day. The operation is with click inside, that is the customer makes appointment and visits the shop. The measure is exceptional as florists had ordered in advance tons of flowers due to the special day.

Lockdown Nr. 3 on top of Lockdown Nor 2 – since 7. Nov 2020, follows a relevant announcement by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tuesday evening.

3. Lockdown Measures for Athens & Attica

Curfew: Monday-Friday 9p.m.-5 a.m., Saturday-Sunday 6p.m.-5p.m

Movement: With SMS to 13033 or handwritten note and with the 6 known options. Movement between different municipalities allowed.

Option <6> – personal exercise – is allowed also for movement from municipality to municipality.

Movement to different regional unit allowed only for the known reasons as since Nov 7, 2020: that is work, health reasons, return to main residence (once!), students under certain conditions, divorced parents to visit children, funerals, harvest of agriculture products. Necessary documents should be at hand.

Masks: Mandatory indoors and outdoors

Shops & Services allowed to operate:

Shops

  • Food stores (supermarkets, grocery shops, bakeries etc)
  • Pharmacies
  • Pet shops
  • Telecommunication stores only for bill payments,  extension of prepaid, repair
  • Optics and ear devices shops only with previous appointment
  • Wings stores only with previous appointment
  • Flowershops only Feb 13-14, 2021 – Operation time 9am-5:30pm
  • Retail stores only with online order and courier

Services

  • Dry cleaning
  • Fuel stations
  • KTEO
  • Vehicles repair stores

Supermarkets, food stores: Operation: Mon-Fri 7am- 8:30 pm, Sat 7am-5:30pm Sunday only bakeries, candy shops until 5:30. supermarkets may operate only to prepare online deliveries.

Pharmacies and fuel stations operate according to their special operation schedules.

KTEO & repair stores operation until 8:30 pm and Saturdays until 5:30 pm.

Open markets (Laiki) open also on Saturdays

Food/catering sector: Operation only with delivery, take-away and drive through

  • Shopping and other services is conducted with option <2> sms to 13033. Maximum time allowed for shopping is limited to 2 hours

Kiosks operate on 24-hour basis.

Taxis, private vehicles: 2 persons in addition to driver, exceptions when minor children.

Hospitals:

  • 1 accompanying person per patient
  • distance of 1.5 m except during contact with doctor
  • Limitation of surgeries up to 80% with exception of oncology, emergencies and special hospitals

No visits allowed to care homes for elderly

Churches: religious services without presence of people. Funerals, wedding, baptism only with maximum 9 people

Beauty services like hair, nails etc are shut down.

Public Transport: capacity up to 65%
