The number of intubated patients has hit a new negative record on Thursday, with 776 patients in ventilators. Greece’s health authorities announced on Thursday evening, 3228 new coronavirus cases and 73 Covid-related deaths in past 24 hours. The number of Covid-19 patients in ventilators stands at 749.
Death toll has reached 8,680. Total confirmed infections since the begin of the pandemic 288,230.
The National Vaccination Committee is meeting today about how Greece will proceed with the AstraZeneca vaccine. Announcements are expected tomorrow, Friday.
Greeks are concerned about possible thrombosis side effects and cancellations of appointments for AZ vaccinations have increased to 7% from 3% last week, STAR TV reported.
In an unprecedented incident, a Covid-patient removed the intubator from another patient in coma because he was allegedly annoyed by the ventilator’s noise. Both men were in a simple ward in Red Cross hospital in Athens. Despite doctors’ CPR efforts, the 76-year-old victim could not be brought back to life.

According to the official bulletin on Thursday, based on the confirmed cases on the last 7 days, 102 are related to travel abroad and 2844 are related to already known cases.
The released data do not allow any more the clues about the rate of infections without known source of contamination.
51.4% of the infected are men.
The number of intubated coroinavirus patients stands at 776 from 749 a day earlier. Their average age is 68, among them 64.8% are men. 83% have underlying health problems and/or are aged over 70.
New admissions of Covid-19 patients to hospitals are 595 (daily change +13.55%) in the last 24 hours. Average number of hospital admissions in 7 days: 522.
Average age of infected is 44 ( age range 0.2-105).
1825 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
Another 73 deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 8,680. The average age of the deceased was 79 (age range 16-103). and 95.7% had underlying health problem and/or was over 70 years old.
